Little Hearts Matter have put together an independent assessor panel to ensure that all nominations are treated fairly, equally and timely. Our panel consists of cardiac youth workers from other organisations and LHM adult members, adults living with half a working heart.

XANDER

Xander Braveheart

I'm Xander Patel-Cook the Senior CHD Health Youth Worker from Youth at Heart. I have been working with young people in the South West of England and South Wales for the past 5 years both in and out of the hospitals in the region. I mainly work at the Bristol Heart Institute and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children with inpatients.
When not working I enjoy gaming with friends, going to the gym, watching movies and TV shows with my wife and two cats Astra and Tache.

KATIE

Katie Braveheart

Hi, my name is Katie, and I am the Engagement Officer for youth and family at Children’s Heartbeat Trust.
I started my job as Engagement Officer at CHt in July 2023 and since then I have been supporting young people with diagnosed heart condition and their families here in Northern Ireland. I thoroughly enjoy working with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential, it is the most rewarding job.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends at the weekends, often going for long walks or binge-watching Netflix if they weather isn’t great.’

LUCY

Lucy Braveheart

Hi, I am Lucy a 19 year old adult LHM member with tricuspid atresia, Hypoplastic right heart syndrome. I have travelled through the youth services and even won a Braveheart Award myself. I think its so important to celebrate successes on the half a heart journey and look forward to seeing what youre achieveing.

My name is Hannah Palmer and I was born in 1994 with Double Inlet Left Ventricle. I was made a Trustee in 2014 and again in 2021. Being on the panel and highlighting the amazing work our Young Members and their Friends and Family do for LHM is an honour!
