Evita & Ziggy’s Story
At 24 weeks of pregnancy we found out that our little girl would be born with half a working heart. Our world came crashing down, as by professional opinion it would be best to terminate the pregnancy, but we never gave up hope, a chance to cuddle our little girl for just a few days was all that mattered.
In July of 2020, during a global pandemic, our beautiful girl was born and she proved she will fight like a warrior. At 6 days old she had her first open heart surgery, Norwood. We came home just before Gaby turned 1 month old.
In December 2020, we had a very unexpected emergency Glenn operation and we nearly lost our little warrior as she was losing a lot of blood. Gaby fought for 10 hours and the surgeons were finally able to stabilize her.
Day by day, with nonstop blood transfusions, Gaby slowly recovered and we were finally able to take her home. Gaby had a stent inserted in her pulmonary arteries in April 2021
Since then, she keeps fighting and living her best life. We are slowly preparing for third stage surgery Fontan. She’s our little happiness…full of love and strength.
My message to the world – MOST BROKEN HEARTS HAVE THE BIGGEST STRENGTH AND PARENTS WHO NEVER GIVE UP!
