Oxygen Saturation Tests
25/07/2012
Oxygen Saturation tests. Many of our members and visitors to the LHM site may remember that LHM was involved in a midlands based study to explore whether testing O2 saturation rates just after birth would improve the diagnosis of children w
...ith congenital heart problems. The study confirmed that O2 rates could help detect heart conditions before a new born baby became ill but it also showed that the tests could detect other baby illnesses like pneumonia. Paediatrician, Cardiologists , Nurses and patients and parents all like this test and would like to see it used nationally.
Little Hearts Matter, in partnership with other cardiac charities, has been raising the need for this test to be included in the national guidelines for the detection of problems in new born babies, the Infant Physical Examination Programme.
This cheap and simple test could save lives.
If you agree please go to the e-petition address below and sign up to get the test included as routine.
